On August 18, 1286, King Sancho IV, in the parchment of the ordering of the city of Pontevedra, mentions for the first time the twenty-four Knights of Seville and the King orders that his Chief of Waiters be included, among others, Juan Mathe de Luna.
One of his descendants was Don Fernando Mendoza Mate de Luna, a native of Cádiz, a knight of very notorious nobility, who represented his exploits in war and an illustrious example of virtue and prudence in government.
